Seven beats. One editor. No algorithm nudging you down the scroll.
Most news apps have product managers. SkimNews has an editor. If you don't like what we run, or what we leave out, there is one person to blame.
Every card on this site was pulled from one of around 80 sources we track — the kind of outlets that do original reporting: BBC, NYT, FT, The Guardian, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Stratechery, STAT News, The Verge, TechCrunch, Reuters, AP, and similar load-bearing names. AI turns long articles into a three-bullet summary and a one-clause "why it matters." A human picks the sources and sets the editorial line. Within each beat the feed is reverse-chronological — no recommendation model decides what you see. That is intentional.
We exclude stock-picking listicles, investment-marketing dressed up as analysis, and press-release aggregators. If a feed's output is mostly "five stocks to buy this week" or "scientists announce breakthrough" with nothing beneath, it's out. That cut drops roughly 10% of the volume a pure RSS aggregator would show. That 10% is the point.
