- BMW i3 Touring was captured for the first time by BMWBlog, showing a considerably longer rear end and sloped roofline that make the wagon profile unmistakable compared to the i3 sedan
- The i3 sedan launched in June as BMW's second Neue Klasse model after the iX3 SUV, with the standard model priced at €65,900 ($75,500) in Germany and the 50 xDrive First Edition at €75,340 ($86,400)
- UK pricing for the i3 50 xDrive First Edition starts at £57,905 ($76,500) on the road, with the standard version set to go on sale this autumn from £53,005 ($70,000)
- i3 Touring design echoes the Kia EV4 hatchback and fastback shape, while the front end is expected to retain BMW's twin headlights, kidney grille, and redesigned emblem from the sedan
- The interior will share BMW's Neue Klasse cabin with a 17.9" floating central infotainment display and a 43" Panoramic Vision display spanning the base of the windshield
- i3 50 xDrive powertrain runs on BMW's sixth-gen eDrive (Gen6) with a 108.7 kWh battery delivering up to 566 miles (912 km) of WLTP range and an EPA-estimated 440 miles, with 800V architecture enabling roughly 250 miles (440 km) of range regained in about 10 minutes at up to 400 kW DC fast-charging
- Production of the i3 begins this summer at BMW's Munich plant, with deliveries scheduled for this fall, and the 2027 US-bound i3 will feature a native NACS charging port
Why it matters: BMW is extending its Neue Klasse EV lineup with a long-roof body style — a body type BMW has historically championed in Europe — joining the i3 sedan and iX3 SUV. With the Touring likely to cost more and offer slightly less range than the sedan but considerably more cargo space, wagon buyers now have an electric option backed by 566 miles of WLTP range and 400 kW fast-charging.
