- Bijan Robinson agreed to a three-year, $75 million extension with the Atlanta Falcons that includes $51 million guaranteed, negotiated by Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports, ending his weeklong hold-in at training camp
- Robinson's $22.25 million per-year average surpasses the Eagles' Saquon Barkley ($20.6 million) as the highest-paid running back year-over-year; Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs is also holding in awaiting his own extension
- Robinson led the NFL in scrimmage yards (2,298) last season and finished fourth in rushing yards (1,478), highlighted by a 93-yard rushing touchdown against the Rams — the longest rushing TD in the league in 2025
- The Falcons have aggressively retained young talent this offseason, also extending wide receiver Drake London ($141.05M, four years), tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. ($54M, three years), and left guard Matthew Bergeron ($96M, four years)
- Drafted eighth overall in 2023, Robinson has totaled 3,910 rushing yards, 1,738 receiving yards, and 34 touchdowns across three seasons and is now under contract with Atlanta through 2030 under new coach Kevin Stefanski
Why it matters: Robinson's deal resets the running back pay scale at $22.25 million per year, putting immediate pressure on Detroit to extend Jahmyr Gibbs, who is also holding in. For Atlanta, the extension locks in a two-time Pro Bowler under new coach Kevin Stefanski through 2030.
