- Raindance Film Festival opens its 34th edition on June 17 at Vue West End, London, with the UK premiere of “April X.”
- April X – a multi‑award‑winning sci‑fi thriller directed by Michel K. Parandi and starring Connor Storrie and Lilly Krug – will be distributed in the UK and Ireland by Vertigo Releasing in September.
- Kirsty Bell’s documentary “Eddie Cochran: Don’t Forget Me” will close the festival with its European premiere and will accompany a posthumous Raindance Icon Award for Cochran.
- Gorillaz animated short “The Mountain, the Moon Cave and the Sad God,” directed by Jamie Hewlett, Timothy McCourt and Jonathan Djob Nkondo, will debut exclusively at the opening night.
- Elliot Grove, founder of Raindance, praised “April X” as a bold, independent sci‑fi that fits the festival’s mission to champion daring voices.
Why it matters: Independent filmmakers gain a high‑profile platform and UK distribution for “April X,” while the Cochran estate secures renewed public exposure and a prestigious Icon Award, boosting the festival’s cultural cachet and ticket sales.
