- Seth MacFarlane said at Saturday's Deadline Contenders TV panel that he has "flirted with the idea" of a direct-to-Peacock Ted feature film using the current live-action cast, and would also pursue a Season 3 of the series starring Alanna Ubach.
- MacFarlane framed the decision as ultimately Peacock's call, quipping that it depends on "their, you know, vast amounts of big Scrooge McDuck money that they dive into every day," and acknowledged he has previously expressed doubt that Peacock would bankroll another season.
- Peacock is also developing an animated Ted series that MacFarlane said "is getting close to completion" on its first season, set after the events of the last film and featuring the voice of Mark Wahlberg alongside Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth from the original 2012 movie.
- The animated series is executive produced by Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, and MacFarlane called it "really funny," noting the original Ted originated as an animated pitch before becoming a live-action hit — making the full-circle animated version "only fitting."
- Alanna Ubach, who joined MacFarlane onstage, framed the franchise's open-ended future as a strength of character-driven storytelling: "the possibilities are endless, right?"
Why it matters: MacFarlane is effectively asking Peacock to double down on a franchise it has already spread across three formats (live-action series, animated series, potential film) — a bet that depends entirely on the streamer's appetite for a property that originated as an R-rated Mark Wahlberg comedy in 2012. The animated series nearing completion gives Peacock a near-term content asset regardless of whether the film or Season 3 materialize.
