- Iran' Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the EU’s response to Tehran’s recent attacks on U.S. bases, calling the EU’s moral outrage “selective” and asserting Iran’s strikes are lawful self‑defense against U.S. aggression.
- European Union officials condemned the Iranian missile and drone attack on a U.S. air base in Kuwait, saying it violated Kuwait’s sovereignty and injured at least four U.S. service members and contractors.
- U.S. Central Command described its own strikes on Iranian radar and command‑and‑control sites as “self‑defense” and a “measured and deliberate response” to what it called aggressive Iranian actions.
- Kuwait reported that its air defenses were confronting hostile missile and drone attacks after Iran said it targeted another U.S. air base on Sunday in retaliation for recent U.S. strikes.
- United States forces also seized a Gambia‑flagged commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman, enforcing a naval blockade that Iran has labeled illegal and demanded be lifted in any peace agreement.
Why it matters: Iran stands to regain access to billions in frozen assets and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, boosting oil flow, while the United States risks further escalation and diplomatic isolation.
