- Waypoint Entertainment struck a first-look partnership with Watch This Ready, the indie production company co-founded by filmmakers Kyle Marvin and Michael Angelo Covino alongside producer Emily Korteweg.
- The first project under the new deal is The Pull, a comedy-thriller written by Zoë Worth from an original story by Kyle Marvin (who will also direct), described as following 'a small-time hustler mother' through the world of high-value sports cards.
- The Pull is being developed in partnership with Fanatics Studios, the joint venture between Fanatics and OBB Media, drawing on the company's sports access and trading-card industry connections.
- Watch This Ready previously produced Splitsville, the Dakota Johnson starrer that premiered at Cannes and was picked up by Neon—the same studio behind the companies' earlier collaboration.
- Waypoint's recent slate includes Phil Lord & Christopher Miller's Project Hail Mary, Boots Riley's I Love Boosters, and Damian Mc Carthy's Hokum; its ongoing Neon partnership has backed Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value, Kleber Mendonça Filho's The Secret Agent, Park Chan-wook's No Other Choice, and Oliver Laxe's Sirāt.
- Watch This Ready's upcoming slate includes The Last Fix, a Netflix comedy directed by Covino, an untitled Christmas movie with Neon, and directorial debuts from Jeannie Sui Wonders and Pippa Bianco.
Why it matters: The deal formalizes a working relationship that already produced the Neon-acquired Splitsville, and pairing a sports-cards thriller with Fanatics Studios signals Waypoint's strategy of giving indie filmmakers brand-adjacent commercial IP to scale with. Watch This Ready's expanding slate—spanning a Netflix comedy, a Neon holiday movie, and two directorial debuts—now has the financing runway to grow beyond self-produced projects.
