- Toyota is offering a $3,000 conquest cash incentive in California this month for owners of 2020–2023 Tesla Model Y or Model 3, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Volkswagen ID.4, Kia EV6, or Nissan Leaf who trade in for a new bZ.
- The 2026 bZ now offers up to 314 miles of EPA-estimated range (a 25% improvement over the outgoing bZ4X), a native NACS port for Tesla Superchargers, 150 kW DC fast charging, and a new battery preconditioning feature for cold-weather charging.
- Toyota sold over 17,500 bZs through June 2026 — nearly double the same period in 2025 and within striking distance of the Prius hybrid's 19,518 units, making the bZ the 4th best-selling EV in the US behind the IONIQ 5, Model 3, and Model Y.
- The bZ starts at $34,900 for the XLE FWD with 236 miles of range; the XLE FWD Plus with 314 miles costs $37,900, and Toyota's 0% APR for 72 months and $379/month leases run alongside the trade-in cash through August 3, 2026.
- California's new MyFirstEV program launched the same week, offering first-time EV buyers a $3,500 rebate that can stack with Toyota's conquest incentive for qualifying shoppers.
Why it matters: Toyota priced the bZ into the affordable EV tier and specifically targeted owners of the segment's three top sellers — Tesla Model Y/3 and Hyundai IONIQ 5 — at the moment bZ volume is nearly doubling year-over-year, converting a promotional push into a direct competitive squeeze on the brands the conquest offer names.
