- Marie Bouzkova defeated Emma Navarro 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 6-2 in the Nottingham Open final to clinch her first grass-court singles title and fourth career singles crown.
- Bouzkova, the Czech fourth seed, twice received treatment on her right ankle after landing awkwardly while serving at 6-5 0-30 down in the first set, then fought off break point to reach the tie-breaker.
- Emma Navarro, the American former world number eight, reeled Bouzkova back from breaks twice in the opening set before losing the tie-breaker 7-5 and then taking the second set 6-4.
- An early break in the deciding set was enough for Bouzkova to pull away and close out the 6-2 third set despite a second lengthy delay caused by a medical issue in the crowd.
- The Nottingham title is Bouzkova's second trophy of 2025, following her clay-court win in Bogota in April.
- Bouzkova used her on-court speech to wish her father a happy Father's Day, noting he had flown in to watch her lift the trophy.
Why it matters: Bouzkova's first grass-court title validates her clay-to-grass form swing after Bogota, and doing it while playing through a treated ankle injury strengthens her case as a credible threat on faster surfaces heading into the grass swing's bigger events. The trophy is her second of 2025, putting the 27-year-old on the fastest title pace of her career.
