- RFU plans to raise the number of non‑sport events at Allianz Stadium from three to fifteen per year, pending approval from Richmond Council, Metropolitan Police and South Western Railway.
- RFU will cap event attendance at 75,000 on weekends and lower numbers midweek, compared with the stadium’s 82,000‑seat rugby capacity.
- RFU has secured extra rail capacity at Twickenham Station for event days to accommodate larger crowds.
- RFU will add a “facility fee” to concert tickets, with proceeds feeding a Community Enhancement Fund overseen by a panel of local councillors, business reps and RFU members.
- Bill Sweeney, RFU chief executive, says the expanded concert programme will underpin £500 million annual rugby investment, generate tens of millions in economic activity and create hundreds of jobs in south‑west London.
Why it matters: Rugby fans and local businesses gain new revenue and jobs, while the RFU secures a stable funding stream for its £500 m plan; taxpayers see community projects funded without extra taxes.
