- Arthur Fery beat Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen 5-7 7-6(3) 6-3 6-3 in the second round to reach the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time, making him the last British singles player standing at Wimbledon 2026.
- Fery played through a nosebleed and the pressure of being watched by the Princess of Wales — upon her arrival he dropped serve for the only time in the match and lost the first set — before levelling via tie-break and cruising home.
- Katie Swan, Jacob Fearnley and Jan Choinski all bowed out: Swan lost 6-1 6-4 to Madison Keys, Fearnley fell 6-4 7-6(7-3) 6-4 to Jaume Munar, and Choinski lost 4-6 6-2 7-5 6-2 to 17th seed Frances Tiafoe.
- Matteo Berrettini produced his first Centre Court win since 2021, beating 20th seed Arthur Fils 6-4 7-5 3-6 6-3 — five years after losing the Wimbledon final to Novak Djokovic.
- Grigor Dimitrov, returning from a torn pectoral muscle that ended his 2024 Wimbledon against Jannik Sinner, beat Jakub Mensik 7-6(7-5) 4-6 7-5 6-3 and fought back tears saying he was 'overwhelmed' just to be back on court.
Why it matters: With Swan, Fearnley and Choinski all eliminated on the same day, Fery — a 23-year-old wild card ranked outside the top 100 — is now the only British singles player left in either draw, a rare thin showing for the host nation at a Grand Slam where the article notes he grew up five minutes from the All England Club and can sleep at home between matches.
