- Robert F. Kennedy Jr. promoted his 2021 book about Dr. Fauci on social media and on Fox News with Sean Hannity within hours of Fauci invoking his Fifth Amendment right before Senate Republicans, claiming it sold 1.4 million copies.
- Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, who chaired the hearing where Fauci took the Fifth, published his own critical book about Fauci in 2023 through Regnery Publishing.
- Robert F. Kennedy III, the health secretary's son, also published a book criticizing Fauci, making three anti-Fauci authors with direct personal or political ties to RFK Jr.
- Skyhorse Publishing, whose founder Tony Lyons is a close adviser to RFK Jr. and runs a PAC supporting the secretary's agenda, published or acquired the publisher of all three anti-Fauci books.
- Regnery Publishing, which released Paul's book, was acquired by Skyhorse in December 2023; Skyhorse also recently published a memoir by Cheryl Hines, RFK Jr.'s wife.
- The three books' sales may have benefited from the negative public attention the authors themselves helped generate against Fauci through congressional hearings and media appearances.
Why it matters: Three of the most prominent public critics of Dr. Fauci are commercially tied to a single publisher, Skyhorse, whose founder Tony Lyons runs a PAC backing RFK Jr.'s agenda — meaning the louder the political attacks on Fauci get, the more those same critics stand to sell books through a publisher with a direct financial stake in the secretary's political project.
