- Tyler Herro told ESPN he wants to "move past" his July 10 physical altercation with Bam Adebayo at Las Vegas' Resorts World Hotel and is "focused on Milwaukee and building something special"
- Adebayo confronted Herro around 9 a.m. PT after the Heat trained on the same court Herro had been working out on, reportedly upset over social media posts questioning whether he justified his $60 million salary
- The encounter turned physical when Adebayo struck Herro near the chin after taking exception to Herro's verbal response; sources told ESPN Herro was restrained by others in the gym and did not fall
- Herro was traded from Miami to Milwaukee as part of the blockbuster package for Giannis Antetokounmpo, ending a seven-year run as teammates with Adebayo in Miami
- Heat sources told ESPN the pair grew apart over the past season as Herro played just 33 games due to ankle, toe, and rib injuries and struggled to adjust to Miami's new offensive scheme
- Herro said if he had to play anywhere other than Miami — where he won Sixth Man of the Year in 2022 and was an All-Star in 2024-25 — it would be his hometown Milwaukee, where he wanted to play coming out of school
Why it matters: The altercation exposes the friction that built up during Herro's injury-plagued 33-game season, as Adebayo's public comments about Miami's new scheme reportedly wore on him while his name circulated in Giannis trade talks. Milwaukee inherits a hometown guard who says he wants to 'represent the city,' while Adebayo — Miami's captain — moves forward without his seven-year co-star.
