- Red Sage Studios set Domingo González to write and direct an adaptation of "She's With Me," the first in a five-book bestselling YA series by Jessica Cunsolo, with Pokeepsie Films, Sun Distribution, and Webtoon Productions producing.
- The hire reunites González with Pokeepsie Films and Red Sage CEO James Farrell following "Culpa Mía," a Spanish YA romance trilogy that surpassed 100 million viewers worldwide on Amazon earlier this year; Farrell called it "one of my favorite film trilogies at Amazon, and certainly our most successful."
- "She's With Me" originated on Wattpad, where the series has amassed more than 215 million reads, and follows a girl in witness protection whose anonymity unravels when she collides with her high school's notorious bad boy.
- Farrell announced the launch of Red Sage Studios earlier this year as a YA-focused feature company operating in partnership with Sun Distribution Group, with himself as CEO.
- Nick Lafferty joined Red Sage as Chief Operating Officer after 11 years at CAA, where he most recently served as Co-Head of Global Television working with writers, actors, and directors across Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
- Red Sage's previously announced feature slate includes "The Bridge Kingdom," based on the first installment in a New York Times bestselling six-part romantasy series by Danielle L. Jensen, and "Let's Play," based on Leeanne M. Krecic's Eisner-nominated romance webcomic.
Why it matters: By reuniting the González-Pokeepsie-Farrell trio on a five-book YA series with 215 million Wattpad reads already in hand, Red Sage is explicitly banking that the "Culpa Mía" formula — proven Wattpad IP, multilingual creative team, Amazon-scale distribution muscle — can be replicated as a repeatable franchise model for a brand-new studio months after launch.
