Twitch adds opt-out for Amazon AI training

- Twitch launched a "Training for Generative AI" toggle in Settings under the Security and Privacy tab, letting streamers block their content from training Amazon's generative AI models.
- The opt-out covers streams, VODs, clips, stream chats, and pictures and text on the channel, preventing their use in future training of Amazon AI models that generate or synthesize text, audio, images, or video.
- AI-supported features like captions and safety tools will continue to function on a channel even after opting out, and a user's chat on another streamer's channel is governed by that streamer's opt-out preferences.
- The toggle was on by default when the author located it in their settings, and they have asked Amazon whether that is the shipped default for all users.
- Opting out does not stop Twitch or Amazon from using channel content for other purposes described in the Twitch Privacy Notice, including AI-driven recommendations, real-time sponsorship campaign assistance, and AutoMod community safety.
Why it matters: Streamers now have a mechanical way to keep their content out of Amazon's generative AI training pipelines, but the default-on setting and broad carve-outs for recommendations, AutoMod, and monetization tools mean opting out is narrower than it sounds — and any chat you write on a channel you don't control is governed by that streamer's preference, not yours.
