- Russia launched an overnight barrage of six Iskander-M or S-400 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk region, six tactical cruise missiles, and 121 drones at Kyiv, wounding at least 11 civilians including an 11-year-old boy, four of whom were hospitalized.
- Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 111 drones and two cruise missiles, but all six ballistic missiles breached the perimeter, triggering fires at a transformer substation in Darnytskyi district and a three-storey office building in Solomianskyi district.
- Kyiv's air raid sirens activated at 3:40am, nearly two minutes after initial detonations at 3:38am, giving residents virtually no time to seek cover, according to Euromaidan Press.
- Patriot missile batteries have been switched to manual mode to conserve dwindling interceptor stocks as Ukraine awaits Western military aid, domestic media reported.
- Local authorities report that Russian attacks across Kyiv and its metropolitan area have killed more than 60 people since the start of July.
- The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that Russia's nationwide campaign struck at least 11 infrastructure sites across the country beyond the capital.
Why it matters: With all six ballistic missiles breaching Kyiv's air defenses and Patriot batteries rationed in manual mode, the capital cannot fully repel incoming strikes until Western military aid arrives. The more than 60 deaths in Kyiv's metro area since July 1 quantify an accelerating campaign exploiting a known vulnerability in Ukraine's interceptor supply.
