- Google selected 20 AI-powered Indian startups for the 2026 cohort of Google Play Accelerator India, a three-month, equity-free program focused on app quality, responsible AI integration, security, user growth, and monetization.
- The 2026 cohort spans nine sectors — education, healthcare, gaming, agriculture, finance, ecommerce, productivity, lifestyle, and entertainment — with named participants including HeyDoc AI and MrMed (healthcare), UrbanPro and Lingopanda (education), ChennaiGames and MetaShot (gaming), Kisanwala (agritech), and Swipe and Zet (fintech).
- Aditya Swamy, Managing Director of Google Play Partnerships, said the cohort reflects how "India's next wave of app innovation is being built with AI at the centre."
- Paul Ravindranath, Regional Lead for Developer and Startup Programs at Google, said the next three months will focus on helping founders "strengthen their apps for users in India and global markets."
- The announcement comes as large tech firms intensify efforts to attract early-stage AI companies via expanded accelerator programs, cloud credits, and developer tools, with Google also unveiling new AI capabilities at its recent Google I/O Connect India event.
