BYD to Build 1,000 kW Flash Charging Network in Canada

- BYD posted a Toronto job this week for a "Flash Charging Business Development Manager" — the first confirmed signal its megawatt charging network will expand to North America, with 10+ management roles listed in the last week alone.
- The Flash Charging system delivers roughly 250 miles (400 km) of range in 5 minutes at 1,000 kW, upgraded to 1,500 kW with BYD's second-generation Blade battery — more than 3x the power of any charger currently operating in North America.
- BYD's second-generation Blade battery can charge from 10% to 70% in roughly 5 minutes at -20°C (-4°F), directly targeting the winter charging slowdown that has been a top barrier to EV adoption in Canada.
