- Nasser Hussain, Stuart Broad, and Lydia Greenway issued their 2026 Hundred awards picks on Thursday, with the men's categories handled by Hussain and Broad and the women's competition covered by Greenway ahead of Friday's eliminators and Sunday's finals on Sky Sports.
- Mitch Marsh was the consensus best overseas player, picked by both Hussain and Broad, with Hussain noting he produced runs across venues including Headingley, Trent Bridge, and Manchester while averaging higher in wins than losses.
- Calvin Harrison was named best value for money by both Hussain and Broad after joining Trent Rockets as a late replacement for roughly £31,000 and taking eight wickets, with Hussain calling him 'someone England should be looking at across formats.'
- Charley Phillips took both of Greenway's picks — newcomer and value for money — after a £15k bargain signing yielded seven wickets including scalps of Sophie Devine, Phoebe Litchfield, and Hollie Armitage.
- Ben Duckett earned Hussain's best local player nod after leading Trent Rockets straight to the final and avoiding the eliminator, with Hussain praising his spin play, fast-bowling play, and fielding.
- Phoebe Litchfield was Greenway's best overseas pick as the competition's leading run scorer, described as 'the hardest player to set a field to' thanks to her range of shots including a 'ridiculous switch hit.'
- Stuart Broad conceded he got his value-for-money pick 'completely wrong' by choosing Adil Rashid at £250k, noting that Rashid costs roughly half of what Harry Brook (£465k) and Jofra Archer (£450k) fetched at the same franchise.
Why it matters: The consensus on Mitch Marsh and Calvin Harrison — a Test-proven Australian and a £31,000 late replacement respectively — signals which Hundred signings actually delivered ahead of the Friday eliminators and Sunday finals. Broad's public concession that his £250k Adil Rashid value pick was 'completely wrong' highlights how marquee auction buys can disappoint relative to bargain replacements who outperform their price tag.
