- SportsLine's model simulated the NFL season 10,000 times and released its 2026 Fantasy football rankings ahead of the Sept. 9 kickoff, flagging multiple players as potential busts.
- Malik Nabers is the model's headline bust — drafted around pick No. 35, but ranked outside the top-15 receivers behind DeVonta Smith, Nico Collins and Zay Flowers after tearing his ACL and undergoing a follow-up procedure, with the Giants expected to lean on the run game under offensive coordinator Matt Nagy.
- James Cook is the second flagged bust with an ADP around No. 13 overall (fifth RB taken), but the model ranks him RB No. 10 behind Derrick Henry and Chase Brown, citing a higher fumble rate and Josh Allen's looming touchdown-vulture presence in Buffalo.
- Terry McLaurin's 2025 collapse anchored the model's credibility: after piling up nearly 1,100 receiving yards and 13 TDs, he fell to career lows of 582 yards and 3 TDs despite going off boards as a top-50 pick.
- The model's track record includes calling A.J. Brown as a 2020 sleeper, nailing Jonathan Taylor's 2021 monster season, predicting C.J. Stroud's 2024 step-back, and identifying Derrick Henry (2019), Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara (2018), and Davante Adams (2017).
- SportsLine is also fading one of the first five receivers taken in early 2026 drafts, ranking him barely inside the top 10 — with his identity available only via SportsLine's full cheat sheets.
- The 2026 ADP top 10 (PPR, via CBS) is led by Jahmyr Gibbs (1.62), Bijan Robinson (1.94), Ja'Marr Chase (3.38), Puka Nacua (4.44) and Jaxon Smith-Njigba (5.44), with Cook at No. 10 (12.56).
Why it matters: Fantasy drafters following the model get two concrete fades against consensus: Nabers at pick No. 35 despite an ACL tear and a run-leaning Giants scheme, and Cook at RB5 ADP given Josh Allen's touchdown-vulturing and Cook's higher fumble rate. Both are being drafted inside the top 13 overall, so following the model means passing on names your leaguemates won't.
