- Heteropoda jugulans (the jungle huntsman spider), a 3-gram arachnid from Queensland, was clocked at 3.59 metres per second by Christofer Clemente's team at the University of the Sunshine Coast, eclipsing every other documented species.
- Shreyas Kuchibhotla at Imperial College London led a global study collecting 162 live spider species from the UK, North America, southern Europe and Australia, then combined those tests with speed recordings of 96 additional species from other research teams.
- The Moroccan flic-flac spider (Cebrennus rechenbergi) had held the official record at 1.7 m/s, but Jonas Wolff at the University of Greifswald disputes it, calling the rolling-tumbling motion "not running" and noting it only works downhill on sand dunes.

- David Labonte at Imperial College noted that speed is "in principle, entirely determined by physics" but driven by lifestyle factors like hunting strategy, comparing spider variation to how a cheetah outruns similarly sized dogs.
