- SNL U.K.'s Weekend Update co-host Ania Magliano roasted Shane Gillis over his hosting gig on the American version, using his photo to draw audience laughs
- Gillis drew backlash for misogynistic comments in his opening monologue, joking about women's neon gym shorts and declaring men "aren't allowed to look"
- Gillis also dropped the f-bomb live on air, violating NBC guidelines that prohibit such language on the broadcast
- Magliano riffed on the shorts bit with a joke about Munich Oktoberfest ride operators handing out free cycling shorts to prevent upskirting
- Magliano then mocked Gillis's accidental profanity slip, pointedly noting that "SNL U.K." is permitted to swear on air
- The same segment also cracked jokes about President Donald Trump's recently fired press secretary and claims that King Charles might be Muslim
Why it matters: The roast amplifies the lingering controversy from Gillis's SNL hosting appearance, where his misogynistic monologue jokes and profanity slip tested NBC's content standards. SNL U.K. leveraged its looser profanity rules to escalate the mockery, underscoring the transatlantic rivalry between the two franchises and keeping pressure on NBC's handling of offensive material.
