- Chloë Levine stars as Rebekah Rosenberg, aka Bex Bacall, in Your Heart Is a Hummingbird, the semi-autobiographical indie drama written and directed by SM Goldberger.
- Rebekah Rosenberg is a successful adult-film star whose mother’s cancer diagnosis forces her carefully separated professional and family worlds to collide, driving her to reconcile the girl she was with the woman she is becoming.
- SM Goldberger said Rebekah was “incredibly difficult to cast” because the role is personal, then praised Levine as “perfect” and “a stunning balance of subtle, emotional, and raw.”
- Your Heart Is a Hummingbird was developed through the 2024 Antigravity Academy Screenwriters Camp and is currently shooting in Los Angeles, with Winsor Yuan, Chelsea Davenport and Kimberly Hwang producing.
- SM Goldberger has more than a decade of adult-industry experience, won Director of the Year twice for films with feminist producer Erika Lust, and consulted on Neon’s Pleasure and A24’s Red Rocket.
- SM Goldberger’s short film hi mom premiered in competition at the 2026 Palm Springs ShortFest, and the filmmaker’s sex-work advocacy writing has been published by The New York Times.
Why it matters: Goldberger’s two Director of the Year awards and work on *Red Rocket* and *Pleasure* give the production a filmmaker with direct adult-industry experience. The 2024 Antigravity Academy camp has already led to an active Los Angeles shoot with Levine attached, moving the film from development into production.
