- Superman led all films with six nominations at the 6th annual Critics Choice Super Awards, including best superhero movie, with David Corenswet, Edi Gathegi, and Nicholas Hoult all making the best actor cut and Hoult also nominated for best villain.
- Obsession and Weapons tied as top horror nominees with four nods each, while "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," "Masters of the Universe," and "Project Hail Mary" each collected four nominations across the film categories.
- The Boys led television with five nominations for its final season, with Antony Starr scoring double nods for best actor and best villain, and Valorie Curry and Colby Minifie each earning best actress nominations.
- Amy Madigan picked up double nominations for her Oscar-winning role as Aunt Gladys in "Weapons" in best actress in a horror movie and best villain, while Nicolas Cage earned a nod for "Spider-Noir" and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was recognized for "Wonder Man."
- Fallout season two, House of the Dragon, and Paradise each earned four TV nominations, and the genre-spanning awards will announce winners via press release on Thursday, Aug. 6.
- Project Hail Mary earned acting nominations for Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller, and Yorgos Lanthimos' "Bugonia" scored nods for Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons in the sci-fi/fantasy categories.
Why it matters: These nominations serve as an early prestige signal for genre films and shows that the major awards bodies (Oscars, Emmys) tend to overlook, with Warner Bros. emerging as the biggest beneficiary — "Superman," "Weapons," "Supergirl," "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple," and "The Bride!" all landed multiple nominations across categories.
