McCollum stays with Hawks on 1-year extension

- CJ McCollum agreed to a one-year, $21 million extension with the Atlanta Hawks, his agent Sam Goldfeder of Excel Sports Management told ESPN's Shams Charania, with the deal including a trade kicker and keeping him out of free agency before his June 30 eligibility window closed.
- McCollum was traded from the Washington Wizards to the Hawks last January as part of the Trae Young deal, then fueled a late-season surge in which Atlanta won 18 of 20 games to clinch a playoff spot.
- McCollum averaged 18.7 points per game on 35.7% three-point shooting across 41 games with the Hawks, and became the only player to make at least 150 three-pointers in every season since 2015-16 — an 11-year streak.
- McCollum was a major reason Atlanta led the eventual NBA champion New York Knicks 2-1 in the first round, hitting a 15-foot fadeaway with 12.7 seconds left to win Game 3 and scoring 32 points in Atlanta's Game 2 victory in New York.
