- The chatbot is tied to the current session's musical context and can generate lyrics, create a new guitar line, or add reverb, compression, and EQ to existing tracks
- Custom effects plugins generated by the chatbot — including unique reverbs, brickwalled compression, and chorus effects comparable to Polyend's Endless AI guitar pedal — save to the user's account for reuse
- Beta-stage user agency is minimal: in a demo, Suno's Henry Phipps cleans up flubbed notes, quantizes MIDI, and then defers vocal chain decisions to the AI rather than selecting effects himself
Why it matters: Musicians gain a more complete production environment with MIDI editing and automation, but Suno's chatbot-driven workflow does more of the creative and technical work for the user. The absence of VST support keeps third-party plugin ecosystems out, while the custom-AI-effects feature gives Suno a distinctive angle versus traditional DAWs.
