Disney is in early development on a fifth installment of its 'Halloweentown' franchise, continuing its seasonal programming tradition.
Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn are writing the new 'Halloweentown' film, building on characters created by Paul Bernbaum from the 1998 original.
Paul Bernbaum originated the 'Halloweentown' concept as writer of the first film, which launched the series over two decades ago.
Disney Channel and Disney+ are set to air the new movie if it is greenlit, signaling a dual-platform distribution strategy for the franchise revival.

Why it matters: For fans and legacy cast members, this revival represents a rare continuation of a beloved 1990s franchise, while Disney gains a low-risk opportunity to leverage nostalgic IP across its linear and streaming platforms without new creative investment.
