- Pascal Gross won the Premier League Player of the Month award for September after recording six goal involvements in five games — more than any other player in the top flight this season.
- Brighton originally signed Gross from relegated Ingolstadt in 2017 for £3m, their first Premier League signing, and after selling him to Borussia Dortmund for £8m in 2024, re-signed him in January 2026 for about £1.7m — netting the club roughly £5m on paper.
- Since joining Brighton nine years ago, only Bruno Fernandes, Kevin de Bruyne, and Mohamed Salah have created more Premier League chances than Gross's 562, despite an 18-month absence in Germany.
- Gross leads all Premier League players for successful crosses (483) over that span and sits seventh for assists with 51, alongside 34 goals in 252 top-flight appearances.
- The 35-year-old has run almost 60km (37 miles) this season — more than any Premier League player except Everton teenager Harrison Armstrong — while playing every minute for Brighton in all competitions.
- Gross has created 15 Premier League chances this season (a league high) to help Brighton sit third in the table, and his six goals and three assists tie with Chelsea's Joao Pedro for the most goal contributions in 2025-26.
- Danny Murphy told BBC Sport Gross is "already going to be remembered as one of the Brighton greats," praising his football IQ, versatility across full-back, central midfield and a No 10 role.
Why it matters: Brighton's £3m original outlay on Gross — effectively turned negative when factoring in the £8m Dortmund sale and £1.7m return — represents an extraordinary value swing for a player now leading the league in goal involvements at age 35, while the sixth-oldest ever Player of the Month winner keeps a club sitting in the top three.
