Apple sets WWDC 2026 for June 8, teases iOS 27 and AI

- Apple announced WWDC 2026 will run June 8-12, opening with an in-person keynote at Apple Park that will also stream on YouTube and Apple's Developer app.
- iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 are expected to refine the Liquid Glass design language, deliver promised AI advancements, and end support for the last remaining Intel Macs.
- The delayed "more personal Siri" — originally announced in 2024 and pushed to 2026 — may finally arrive as part of iOS 27 rather than as a standalone iOS 26 update.
- Per Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is sitting on "ready" hardware refreshes including a HomePod mini (last updated 2020) and Apple TV box (last updated 2022), holding them back until the Siri update ships.
- An updated base-model iPad with an A18 or A19 chip and sufficient RAM for Apple Intelligence is still expected later this year after failing to launch alongside Apple's earlier March product updates.
- The developer-focused portions of WWDC will be primarily online, with in-person event access distributed via lottery.
Why it matters: For owners of the last remaining Intel Macs, the fall 2026 release cycle is a hard cutoff — Apple will finally drop Intel support entirely. The Siri delay is also now visibly gating hardware: Apple is sitting on ready-to-ship HomePod mini and Apple TV refreshes, effectively letting a software feature dictate the company's hardware release calendar.
