Wizards, Davis Table Extension Talks Past Season Start

- The Washington Wizards and Anthony Davis' agent Rich Paul mutually agreed to table extension talks until after the season starts, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania, giving both sides the first 20 or so games to evaluate.
- Davis became eligible Thursday to sign a contract extension for up to four years and $275 million, with the first year replacing a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28.
- The Wizards lost 64 or more games in each of the last three seasons but acquired Davis and Trae Young last season to accelerate their rebuild around a young core that includes 2026 No. 1 draft pick AJ Dybantsa and third-year center Alex Sarr.

- Davis was limited to 20 games last season due to a hand injury and did not play for Washington after his midseason trade, though he appeared healthy at a Wizards workout in Las Vegas in July.
- Trae Young told ESPN he has spoken with Davis about staying in Washington, saying: "I think he knows where he wants to be right now."
