- Lumière Festival opened its gala Saturday night in Lyon, France, drawing Todd Haynes, Zhang Ziyi, Daniel Brühl, Tsui Hark, and Andrey Zvyagintsev as headline attendees.
- Todd Haynes used the opening gala to tease his anticipated film 'De Noche,' starring Pedro Pascal.
- Thierry Frémaux, chief of the Lumière Festival, also heads the Cannes festival, linking the two events through shared leadership.
Why it matters: Haynes's tease of 'De Noche' anchors the Lumière Festival with a marquee international title, while Frémaux's dual leadership of Lumière and Cannes underscores how tightly France's two flagship film events are tied through a single figure.
