- Trump withdrew his threat of further strikes against Iran on Thursday (June 11, 2026).
- Trump said a deal with Tehran to end the war could be signed in coming days.
- Trump’s announcement fuelled a stock market rally and tanked oil prices.
- Esmaeil Baqaei said Tehran “had not reached a final conclusion on the agreement.”
- Iranian forces prevented a tanker from transiting the Strait of Hormuz without coordination, state media reported early on Friday.
- Iranian media reported sounds of explosions near Bandar Abbas, but IRNA later said no explosions were reported and sounds could be related to maritime military activity.
Why it matters: Investors benefit from the market rally while oil producers face falling prices, and the prospect of a near‑term Tehran‑Washington agreement could alter the strategic calculus of the West‑Asia conflict, potentially easing shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and reducing insurance premiums.
