- Bitcoin and Dogecoin ranked as the most popular crypto pairing among Indian investors across every age group in CoinSwitch's Q2 2026 report, followed by Bitcoin + Shiba Inu, Dogecoin + Shiba Inu and Bitcoin + Ethereum.
- Investors aged 18–25 accounted for 54.4% of new investors added during Q2 2026 — the largest cohort — while those aged 26–35 made up another 25.4%.
- The 18–25 age group was the only cohort to record more selling than buying, with a buy-to-sell ratio of 0.65, contrasted by investors aged 46+ who posted the strongest buying conviction at a 1.14 ratio.
- Portfolio diversification rose with age: 59.2% of investors aged 18–25 held just one crypto, falling to 36.3% in the 36–45 cohort, which also led with 9.1% holding 10 or more cryptos.
- Uttar Pradesh remained India's largest crypto market at 12.9% of total investment, followed by Maharashtra (12.4%), Karnataka (8.1%) and Delhi (7.4%), with Bitcoin topping preferences in nine of ten largest investing states — Andhra Pradesh being the sole exception where Dogecoin ranked first.
- Ashish Singhal, CoinSwitch co-founder, said the data shows a shift from crypto being viewed simply as a new asset class to investors developing a more nuanced understanding of how they want to participate.
- The findings are based exclusively on activity on the CoinSwitch platform during Q2 2026 and do not represent users of other crypto platforms.
Why it matters: The 18–25 cohort driving new sign-ups while simultaneously being the only net sellers (0.65 buy-to-sell ratio) reveals that India's crypto growth is being fueled by experimentation rather than conviction — and as older investors hold diversified multi-asset portfolios, platform-reported metrics may overstate the depth of committed capital in the market.
