- GAC-Toyota announced bZ3X deliveries surpassed 80,000 units in the SUV's first year on the market, with April 2026 sales reaching 10,027 — a new monthly record.
- The bZ3X has held the top sales position among joint-venture new-energy vehicles (EVs and PHEVs) for seven consecutive months, from September 2025 through April 2026.
- The bZ3X is priced at 109,800 yuan (~$15,000), making it Toyota's first 100,000 yuan-level pure electric SUV, with a limited-time offer dropping it to 99,800 yuan.
- The bZ3X is offered in seven trims — two with roof-mounted LiDAR — and is Toyota's first model equipped with Momenta 5.0, an end-to-end ADAS system with self-driving capabilities.
- Two battery options are available: 50.04 kWh (430 km CLTC range) and 67.92 kWh (610 km CLTC range), in a body sized comparably to the Toyota RAV4, VW ID.4, and BYD Atto 3.
- The Toyota bZ7 flagship electric sedan, launched in late March, secured over 3,100 orders in its first hour and moved 4,637 units in its debut month.
- The bZ3X will not be sold in the US because it is manufactured in China, leaving Toyota's US bZ and C-HR EVs priced from $34,900 and $37,000 respectively.
Why it matters: GAC-Toyota is the only joint-venture brand holding the top EV sales slot in China while domestic competitors flood the market with low-cost rivals, proving a price-competitive JV EV can still win at sub-$15,000. With the bZ7 sedan also posting a strong debut (4,637 units in month one), Toyota's China EV strategy is gaining real traction, though US buyers remain locked out of the brand's most affordable model.
