- Utah moved from No. 10 to No. 6 after a 21-13 win over Houston, leaving the Utes as the Big 12's lone unbeaten team.
- Texas climbed from No. 19 to No. 11 after a 34-27 win over Ole Miss, which fell from No. 7 to No. 12.
- BYU dropped from No. 2 to No. 8 after a double-overtime loss to unranked Central Florida, ending its brief stay in the top three.
- Texas Tech experienced a big drop to No. 13 after its loss to Cincinnati.
- Georgia remains the SEC's highest-ranked team at No. 3, while Kentucky and Alabama occupy top-10 spots after Ole Miss and Tennessee lost Saturday.
- SEC has four teams ranked Nos. 9-12, including Kentucky one spot ahead of a team it lost to earlier this season; no SEC team is undefeated, and only Kentucky and Georgia have one loss.
- Wisconsin returned to the AP Top 25 for the first time since September 2023 after beating USC; Luke Fickell's team is 5-2 with wins over Penn State and Michigan State.
Why it matters: For the College Football Playoff selection committee, four SEC teams are compressed into Nos. 9-12, none is undefeated, and only Kentucky and Georgia have one loss. The AP says that conference chaos makes the SEC's top teams especially hard to assess, with the rankings no longer offering a clear order.
