- Ania Magliano, co-host of SNL UK's "Weekend Update," closed the Saturday segment with a joke aimed at Shane Gillis, following his complaint during last week's episode of the U.S. sketch comedy show
- SNL UK aired the segment while the U.S. version of Saturday Night Live was off-air this weekend, with the British show pulling no punches in criticizing the American episode
Why it matters: The British SNL used its own Weekend Update desk to publicly mock a guest host of the American original — a rare cross-franchise jab between two shows sharing the same brand. The segment aired while the U.S. show was dark, meaning American viewers got the rebuttal secondhand rather than live.
