- Miami Heat acquired two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks in a multi-player trade.
- The deal sends Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to Miami, with Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis heading to Milwaukee.
- Antetokounmpo, 31, was drafted by the Bucks in 2013 and won the NBA championship with Milwaukee in 2021.
- Bucks management was publicly criticised last season by Antetokounmpo for not clearing him to play through a left knee hyperextension.

- Pat Riley called the trade "one of the great trades" in Heat history; the franchise has won three titles (2006, 2012, 2013).
