- Trump said Sunday that his trade war with Canada would be over “soon,” with the dispute posing ongoing political problems for Republicans in the midterms.
- Trump, speaking at a rally in Port Huron, Mich., reiterated that Canada had been “ripping off” the U.S. “for years.”
Why it matters: Canada is the country Trump again accused of taking advantage of the U.S. “for years,” while Republicans in the midterms are the group he says the trade dispute is already hurting politically. His “soon” forecast is the only timetable given for resolving the dispute.
