- Mizuno-Gray Eiko (Loaded Films CEO) and Christophe Bruncher (Ici et Là Productions) — both producers of Hayakawa Chie's Cannes 2025 competition title "Renoir" — will speak at the open "Building Creative Partnerships" panel at TIFFCOM on Oct. 30, alongside Oh Heejung (Seesaw Pictures) and Moriya Takeshi (Atmovie CEO).
- Atmovie Global Track has formalized a partnership with Europe-based workshop Ties That Bind, whose overall program was curated by Alessandro Gropplero, who runs the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund and co-founded the workshop with EAVE and the Udine Far East Film Festival.
- Ahead of the public panel, Oh Heejung and Bruncher will mentor a closed two-day workshop for Atmovie fellows on Oct. 27 and 28, built around group project-development sessions rather than lectures.
- Mizuno-Gray's credits include Hayakawa's "Plan 75" — Japan's Oscar entry and Caméra d'Or special mention winner at Cannes 2022 — and Kurosawa Kiyoshi's "To the Ends of the Earth"; she is developing a Poland-Japan co-production from Ishikawa Kei and a Japan-Philippines project from Hirayanagi Atsuko.
- Atmovie Global Track fellows pitch at major festivals including the Japan Pavilion at Cannes in May 2025 and the Japan Pitch event at the Busan International Film Festival in October, with organizers citing cross-cultural trust and language barriers as core challenges the program addresses.
- The program is supported by the Japan Creator Support Fund, created by the Japan Arts Council using Agency for Cultural Affairs funding.
Why it matters: The Atmovie–Ties That Bind tie-up gives Japanese filmmakers a structured pipeline into European co-productions, addressing what organizers flag as the field's core obstacles: cross-cultural trust and pitching outside native languages. With Atmovie fellows already landing at Cannes and Busan, the partnership adds a dedicated Europe-facing development track backed by the Japan Creator Support Fund.
