- Atmovie Global Track is formalizing a partnership with Europe-based workshop Ties That Bind, anchoring the collaboration to a public "Building Creative Partnerships" panel at TIFFCOM on Oct. 30 that is open to all badge holders.
- Mizuno-Gray Eiko (Loaded Films CEO) and French producer Christophe Bruncher of Ici et Là Productions — both credited on Cannes 2025 competition title "Renoir" — are on the panel, with Mizuno-Gray's prior credits including "Plan 75," which was submitted as Japan's Oscar entry.
- Oh Heejung (Seesaw Pictures, Seoul/Amsterdam) and Atmovie CEO Moriya Takeshi round out the panel; Oh and Bruncher will separately mentor a closed two-day workshop for Atmovie fellows on Oct. 27 and 28 built around group project-development sessions rather than lectures.
- Atmovie Global Track prepares Japanese filmmakers for international co-production markets, with selected fellows pitching at the Japan Pavilion at Cannes in May 2025 and the Japan Pitch at the Busan International Film Festival in October.
- The overall program was curated by Alessandro Gropplero, who runs the Friuli Venezia Giulia Audiovisual Fund and co-founded Ties That Bind alongside EAVE and the Udine Far East Film Festival; Atmovie's support comes from the Japan Creator Support Fund, created by the Japan Arts Council using Agency for Cultural Affairs funding.
Why it matters: The Atmovie–Ties That Bind partnership gives Japanese filmmakers a structured lane into European co-production infrastructure, with Cannes and Busan pitching milestones already built into the program. The pipeline is already producing output: Mizuno-Gray is developing a Poland-Japan project with Ishikawa Kei and a Japan-Philippines project with Hirayanagi Atsuko, meaning the accelerator is moving projects across borders, not just making introductions.
