- Strive purchased 1,800 BTC for ~$143M between Aug. 24 and Aug. 28 at an average price of $79,431 per coin, CEO Matt Cole confirmed Monday
- The buy brought Strive's total holdings to 23,156 BTC, up from 21,356 BTC the prior week — roughly an 8.4% jump in five business days, per adviser Adam Livingston
- The acquisition pushed Strive past crypto firm Bullish to become the fifth-largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder
- Strategy, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, also resumed buying Monday with a 4,603 BTC purchase at an average of $80,318 — its first acquisition since June — lifting holdings back above 845,000 BTC
- Both companies' buys coincided with a Bitcoin rally of more than 23% to above $81,000 since the US Treasury Department on Aug. 19 announced plans to double certain long-term bond buybacks
Why it matters: Two of the top five publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holders bought in the same week, with Strategy ending a pause that stretched back to June. Strive grew its treasury 8.4% in five business days while Strategy added 4,603 BTC, combining for over 6,400 BTC of corporate buying during a 23% Bitcoin rally tied to the Aug. 19 Treasury buyback announcement.
