- People We Meet on Vacation was slated for Netflix on Jan. 9 under Brett Haley, ahead of theatrical dates for Wuthering Heights (Feb. 13), Midwinter Break (Feb. 20) and Reminders of Him (March 13).
- The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping was slated for later in 2026, while Wildwood is Laika’s first stop-motion feature since The Missing Link (2019).
- Wicker was set for a limited theatrical release Oct. 23 and a wide release Oct. 30, with Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Elizabeth Debicki and Peter Dinklage attached.
- Klara and the Sun was slated for theaters Oct. 23, with Taika Waititi directing and Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams starring; first-look footage was shown at CinemaCon 2026.
- Netflix scheduled The Bodyguard for Nov. 18 with Jared Padalecki and Leighton Meester, followed by the Christina Lauren time-loop rom-com In a Holidaze on Dec. 2 with Maddie Ziegler and Rob Lowe.
- Dune Messiah was slated for theaters Dec. 18 alongside Avengers: Doomsday, with Denis Villeneuve directing his final Dune film and Robert Pattinson joining the cast as the major villain.
- The Magician’s Nephew was dated for theaters in February 2027 with Greta Gerwig directing, while The Nightingale was set for March with Elle and Dakota Fanning; many other Netflix, A24 and studio projects remain in the works without dates.
Why it matters: Netflix and theaters have a concentrated fall calendar, with The Bodyguard and In a Holidaze landing Nov. 18 and Dec. 2 and Dune Messiah opening Dec. 18. This is a sustained adaptation pipeline, not a cluster of isolated titles: separate theatrical projects are already dated for February and March 2027.
