- JioStar posted Q1 FY27 revenue of INR10,946 crore ($1.14B), up 14% YoY, with operating EBITDA climbing 30.7% to INR933 crore ($96.8M) on subscription growth and a surge in digital advertising.
- JioHotstar averaged 530 million monthly active users — its highest-ever figure, up 15% YoY — while entertainment watch time grew 16%; the Indian Premier League tournament drew 1.2 billion combined viewers including 700 million on digital alone, making it the most-watched T20 tournament on record.
- JioStar's linear TV network held a 34% total viewership share (810M+ viewers) per BARC data; Hindi pay-TV share climbed to 44%, Star Plus placed five shows in the top 10 Hindi general entertainment titles, and the network led kids' TV with 47% share.
- Product launches in the quarter: short-form hub Tadka crossed 100 million MAUs within two months; a ChatGPT-powered conversational discovery tool is live with rising engagement; a Swiggy in-app food-ordering integration debuted during IPL with half of orders originating from Tier-II cities and beyond; and the platform's first AI-generated microdrama "Game on: 4,000 crore Empire" was produced via its in-house JAMS platform.
- Regional-language digital watch time during IPL rose 33% YoY, supported by multilingual voice search through JioStar's OpenAI partnership; the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 drew sponsorship traction from consumer electronics, AI and wellness categories.
- Reliance's full fiscal year media operations — spanning JioStar, JioHotstar, Jio Studios and Network18 — posted INR34,917 crore ($3.7B) in annual revenue, as disclosed by chair Mukesh Ambani at the company's AGM in June.
Why it matters: JioStar's 30.7% operating EBITDA growth outpacing its 14% revenue gain signals operating leverage is finally kicking in at scale — Reliance's media arm now generates $3.7B annually. With IPL pulling 700 million digital viewers and Tadka already at 100 million MAUs within two months, JioHotstar is consolidating as India's default video layer across cricket, originals, short-form, and live commerce.
