- Cisco released Antares-350M and Antares-1B, two open-weight AI models designed to identify known vulnerabilities within a codebase, and said it plans to ship Antares-3B soon.
- Cisco claimed the smaller Antares models performed similarly to much larger systems specifically named OpenAI's GPT-5.5 and Z.ai's GLM-5.2 on vulnerability-detection tasks.
Why it matters: If Cisco's sub-1B-parameter models genuinely match frontier systems on vulnerability detection, security teams get a self-hostable, open-weight alternative that sidesteps API costs and data-leakage concerns tied to running proprietary models from OpenAI or Z.ai on sensitive codebases.
