- Keith Tkachuk was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday, a day after the Ottawa Senators traded his son Brady to the Florida Panthers to join brother Matthew.
- The 2025 HOF class also includes Patrice Bergeron (six-time Selke Trophy winner and 2011 Stanley Cup champion), goaltenders Carey Price (2014-15 Hart Trophy winner) and Pekka Rinne (2018 Vezina Trophy, 369 career wins), U.S. women's hockey pioneer Cindy Curley, and executive Brian Burke.
- Tkachuk recorded 1,121 points in 1,290 career games with Winnipeg, Phoenix, St. Louis, and Atlanta, and was part of the 1996 World Cup of Hockey champion U.S. team; he never won a Stanley Cup, a feat his son Matthew has achieved twice with the Panthers.
- Brady Tkachuk, the Ottawa captain, was traded to the Panthers on Sunday, reuniting the brothers who starred together for Team USA at February's Winter Olympics in Milan.
- Bergeron was a first-ballot selection following his 2023 retirement from the Bruins, posting a 57.9% career faceoff winning percentage and finishing as a Selke finalist in 12 straight seasons.
- Price won Olympic gold with Canada at the 2014 Sochi Games and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, and backstopped Montreal to the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.
- Rinne spent all 15 of his NHL seasons with Nashville (2005-21) and also won gold with Finland, while Burke led Anaheim to a 2007 Stanley Cup as GM; the induction ceremony is set for Nov. 9.
Why it matters: The 2025 Hockey Hall of Fame class features Olympic gold-medal goaltenders Price and Rinne, six-time Selke winner Bergeron, and women's hockey pioneer Curley — one of the most internationally decorated classes in recent years. For the Tkachuk family, the 48-hour stretch delivered both Keith's enshrinement and his sons' NHL reunion on a Panthers roster that has won two Cups.
