- CoinGecko reported that tokenized traditional assets across Binance, OKX, Bybit, Bitget, Gate, and MEXC grew from $1.4 billion in January 2025 to $6.6 billion in June 2026, a nearly fivefold increase over 18 months
- US stock perpetual futures overtook tokenized precious metals by mid-2026 in both trading volume and open interest, with investor demand driven by semiconductor stocks and anticipated initial public offerings
- Perpetual futures account for the vast majority of trading activity in tokenized TradFi while spot markets remain comparatively small, because derivatives let exchanges list products without issuing or custodying the underlying tokenized assets
- Centralized crypto exchanges are expanding into tokenized stocks, commodities, and precious metals to retain users as decentralized exchanges chip away at market share and traditional brokerages like Robinhood broaden their digital-asset offerings
- Standard Chartered projected in June that tokenization could expand decentralized finance into a $2.7 trillion market by 2030 through real-world asset adoption
- Bernstein estimated the broader tokenization market could reach $4 trillion by the end of the decade as financial institutions increasingly adopt blockchain-based assets
- BitGo partnered with OTC Markets Group to expand tokenized-securities access to more than 150 broker-dealers, while Tradable teamed with the Stellar network to bring up to $1 billion in private credit onchain
Why it matters: For the six exchanges covered, the $5.2 billion jump in 18 months shows that leveraged perps on US equities and commodities — not spot token markets — are now the main growth lever, meaning platforms compete on derivatives infrastructure rather than token custody. The growing overlap with brokerages like Robinhood and infrastructure tie-ups like BitGo–OTC Markets means the retail trading margin is migrating onto shared rails between TradFi and crypto venues.
