- Prinoth is rolling out two battery-electric snow groomers — an electrified Husky and the newly announced Leitwolf E-Motion — built around Scania's Core 800 li-ion battery system with up to 624 kWh of capacity.
- Scania's Core 800 system runs at 691V with integrated liquid cooling and scales modularly from 21 kWh to 624 kWh, with packs mounted in both top and side orientations to meet the groomers' high energy and power demands.
- Scania Industrial Batteries Managing Director Elin Åkerström framed the deal as a stress test in 'extremely demanding conditions,' citing sub-zero cold, steep terrain, heavy snow volumes, and vibration as the core engineering hurdles.
- Prinoth Head of R&D Roberto Pegoraro said the team chose to continue with Scania after field-testing its battery systems in 'some of the most challenging environmental conditions,' citing quality and ongoing technical collaboration.
- The partnership isn't new — the first Scania battery-equipped Prinoth groomers hit the slopes in 2022, and Prinoth says zero-emission electric machines have repeatedly outperformed combustion equipment in extreme cold.
- Scania already deploys the same industrial battery platform across mining, construction, agriculture, logistics, energy storage, and airport ground support vehicles.
Why it matters: Prinoth has now logged multi-year real-world data showing its electric groomers not only survive but outperform combustion units in extreme cold — meaningful proof for ski operators under tightening European emissions pressure. Scania, in turn, locks in another high-visibility deployment for its Core 800 platform beyond mining, construction, and airport equipment, validating the battery pack's cold-weather and vibration resilience at 624 kWh scale.
