Obscured Releasing Acquires U.S. Rights to Sian

- Obscured Releasing acquired U.S. distribution rights to 'Lady,' a satirical comedy starring Sian Clifford as aristocratic Lady Isabella, with a theatrical release slated for this fall before a digital launch later in the year.
- 'Lady' marks the debut feature of BAFTA-nominated director Samuel Abrahams, who co-wrote the script with Miranda Campbell Bowling, and follows a lonely aristocrat who tricks an opportunistic director into filming her life — only to discover she may disappear if she leaves the spotlight.
- The film won Best Director at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival plus Best Film and Young Jury awards at REC International Festival of Cinema Tarragona, after its world premiere at BFI London Film Festival 2025 and a North American competition bow at the Seattle International Film Festival.
- MetFilm Productions is the presenting company, with Anna Mohr-Pietsch and Stewart le Maréchal producing; MetFilm will handle the U.K. release later this year alongside Obscured's U.S. rollout.
- The deal was negotiated by Mitch Clare of MetFilm Sales with Bill Guentzler and RJ Millard representing Obscured Releasing, who called Clifford's performance 'hilarious' and labeled the film a 'gonzo comedy' about the need for connection.
Why it matters: The deal gives a festival-decorated absurdist debut a U.S. theatrical window this fall, putting Clifford — best known as Fleabag's Claire — in a starring indie lead rather than a supporting role, and gives Obscured Releasing a prestige comedy to anchor its slate against MetFilm's parallel U.K. release later this year.
