- Netflix announced that Liz Hannah will co-showrun and direct on The God of the Woods alongside newly added directors Cory Finley, Meera Menon, and Quyen Tran, with each helming two episodes of the eight-episode series based on Liz Moore's NYT bestselling novel.
- Cory Finley (Thoroughbreds, Bad Education) will direct the first two episodes, while Quyen Tran (Maid, The Pitt) takes episodes 103 and 104.
- Liz Hannah (The Girl from Plainville) directs episodes 105 and 106, and Meera Menon (For All Mankind, Ms. Marvel) helms the final two.
- Maya Hawke stars as Judy Luptack, the first woman investigator in the male-dominated Bureau of Criminal Investigation assigned to the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar, with Kerry Condon as Barbara's mother Alice Van Laar.
- The series is a multi-generational drama set in the Adirondacks centered on the Van Laar family's dark secrets, class tensions, and a prior family tragedy possibly connected to Barbara's disappearance.
- Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty executive produce for Original Film, with the show coming from Sony Pictures Television and additional cast including Tracy Letts, John Gallagher Jr., Lola Kirke, and Colton Ryan.
Why it matters: Netflix's The God of the Woods rounds out its director slate with a four-helmer split across its eight episodes, with Cory Finley landing the critical first two. The Adirondacks-set mystery, adapted from a NYT bestseller, casts Maya Hawke as lead investigator ahead of production.
