- Yamaha unveiled the XENTER E alongside the NMAX E around EICMA 2026 in Milan, expanding its electric scooter lineup with a 125cc-equivalent model designed specifically for European city riding.
- XENTER E puts 16-inch wheels at the front and rear, with its high-wheel layout able to make quick work of the cobblestones, potholes and tram tracks that unsettle smaller-wheeled scooters.
- eAxle combines the motor, controller and reduction gearbox into a compact frame-mounted unit; its motor produces 7.5 kW (10 hp) of peak power and 33.3 Nm of torque, placing the XENTER E in Europe’s A1 license category.
- XENTER E mounts its motor to the frame, allowing a conventional motorcycle-style swingarm rather than a rear-suspended motor; Yamaha says this reduces unsprung weight and should improve handling and ride quality.
- XENTER E integrates a 3.5 kWh battery low in the chassis; Yamaha claims 108 km on the WMTC Class 1 cycle, though real-world range is expected to be somewhat lower.
- XENTER E offers an 800W onboard charger that refills the battery in around 5.5 hours from a public charging station, with a cable also available for household-outlet charging.
- Yamaha has not officially announced market-by-market pricing, but early reports from Milan point to €7,799 in Germany; deliveries are expected to begin in spring 2027.
Why it matters: Yamaha’s electric push now targets its core 125cc urban audience: the A1-category XENTER E pairs a claimed 108 km range with 16-inch wheels for rough city surfaces. At an early-reported €7,799 in Germany and a spring 2027 delivery target, it is positioned as an electric replacement for Yamaha’s bread-and-butter 125cc machines, not a supplement.
